It is with sadness that we share the news of Joe Kronick’s passing.

Joe was the founder and long time Director of Camp White Pine in Haliburton, Ontario. Joe was a recipient of the Ron Johnstone Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016, in recognition of his significant contributions to CCA and camps in Canada. He was an active member of the CCA Insurance Committee, and was a driving force behind the insurance policies that are now available to camps across the country.

In remembering Joe, his family wrote:

Today we lost the heart and soul of White Pine. Since 1956, Joe Kronick lived and breathed camp. He filled it with love and life, creating the most magical place for thousands of people to call home. For a man who was larger than life he created a legacy that spans generations.

We will always remember Joe for the impact he’s had on so many, but even more so we will remember him for the kind, loving and funny grandfather he was to us.

Joe, even though you are no longer with us, White Pine will forever hold the love that you had for it. You will always be the heart of White Pine and every time we walk past a Buffalo, we promise we will pick it up.

C’est avec une grande tristesse que nous vous annonçons le décès de Joe Kronick.

Joe a fondé et dirigé pendant de nombreuses années le camp White Pine d’Haliburton, en Ontario. Il a reçu en 2016 le prix Ron Johnstone pour l’ensemble des réalisations, qui soulignait son importante contribution auprès de l’ACC et de l’ensemble des camps du Canada. Il était un membre actif du comité d’assurance de l’ACC, et c’est notamment grâce à lui que les camps du Canada peuvent aujourd’hui accéder aux polices d’assurance actuelles.

En souvenir de Joe, sa famille a écrit :

Aujourd’hui, le cœur et l’âme de White Pine nous ont quittés. Depuis 1956, Joe Kronick respirait et vivait pour le camp. Il lui insufflait vie et amour, et en faisait un endroit magique ou des milliers de personnes se sentaient chez elles. Plus grand que nature, il laisse un héritage qui s’étend sur plusieurs générations.

Joe aura changé la vie d’un nombre incalculable de personnes, mais nous nous souviendrons surtout de lui comme d’un grand-père bon, aimant et amusant.

Joe, malgré ton départ, tu resteras toujours au cœur de White Pine et le camp demeurera empreint de l’amour que tu avais pour lui.
