Congratulations Canadian campers! Thanks to the vision of Andrea Koehle Jones and the participation of hundreds of Canadian campers and staff, a total of 30,000 new trees are growing on campsites in every province in our beautiful country.

In summer 2011, for the third time, the Canadian Camping Association/ Association des camps du Canada collaborated with Andrea Koehle Jones of the ChariTREE Foundation ( to plant trees in camps across the country.

In a pilot project in 2009, twelve camps in the Parry Sound/Muskoka district of Ontario planted 2,300 trees. The next summer we went national and forty-seven camps in nine provinces participated and planted 10,000 trees. In 2011, the project grew again. Campers in fifty-five camps in nine provinces planted 17,590 trees. Due to the Canada Post strike, Andrea used a combination of private delivery companies, the Greyhound Bus courier service and Purolator to get the trees to the camps on time for the opening of the 2011 summer season. Well done camps and campers!
